What a Mess!

I'm supposed to feel thankful after completing my 30km long run 5.30am in the darkness alone safely on Saturday. There’s another thing made me feel miserable afterward.

I’ll never ever take any PowerBar products anymore. It has been proven that the gel and bar is not work for me, so I was giving a hope to ProteinPlus. Unfortunately, the effect is even worse than the gel/bar. I got the feeling of vomiting after taking 3 quarters of it, but I managed to get hold of the vomiting feeling throughout my 30km workout. After my run, I couldn’t have any appetite at all to fill in anything to my stomach beside very light meals. Until the lunch time when stomach started to feel hungry, for whatever taken just throwing out from my stomach few minutes later, and lastly followed by the diarrhea. I have no choice to seek for doctor’s help as I was so weak by then, and I got an injection at my butt!!!

The whole story: the tiny bar messed up my stomach, body, and my training. Definitely I skipped my 20km run the next morning.

Is it because you mix up Powerbar with certain food?

Personally I think relying on these sports product is only a temporary way. Oat, peanuts, honey, or even rice should be a long-term way, and also more natural for the stomach.

'No effort no gain' is better than 'No pain no gain'. :)

And still the old words, safety first when running alone. :)

Is your problem only with POWERBAR's products only? Today I saw GNC is selling GU Gels, maybe you can try another brand.

I have been taking GU gels in the race but not training. PB wasn't my choice but that's the only pre-run food i had at home that day.

My usual pre-run (long run) food mainly depend on banana, but i didn't even have time to buy it days before... sob...

maybe u can try up the glucose. no need try what bar or gel, im the marathon runner but i havnt never take the bar for my 5 marathon so far... the bar wont giv u so much effect if u r really train well.mayb 4 ur 84km run, u can take the banana to replace the gel/bar,go for "nature food".training noneed to take any additional food, if u take it,it no more call training. i trust to u !!

Thanks for all suggestions, i think better to stop discussing the sports supplements. I really feel vomiting once i think of it again...

and i hope sundown provides banana at food/water station as i don't want to carry banana to run, haha!
